If You Build It, They Will Come

If you build it, they will come.

Right?

Or, did my 90s childhood movie education lie to me?

I dream of a dog rescue on my farm, where dogs run free and have forever homes.

Unfortunately, money doesn't grow on any tree I've ever found, and God does answer my prayers, but he has never made it rain dollar bucks, and I don't think He intends to.

I'm getting pricing on kennels now, because when winter hits, pups deserve a warm space. I can't throw up some fencing in the yard and hope it will work out. Each dog deserves it's own space, it's own safe space whether to solely eat, or because they need to or prefer to be alone.

However, a kennel for 16 dogs costs more than a standard, no frills double-wide and doesn't come with piers or a cement slab foundation. It doesn't come with a sink, and a space for laundry. So, then I wonder what partnering with the county commission could do, because perhaps infrastructure is something they can provide.

The thing is, I don't have guidance and I don't have direction. I need prayer and I need a magic fairy of advocacy, USDA rural development, and local government to appear and help me. Any grant writers out there?

In the mean time, I've been slinging vinyl rolls like a crazy lady and I'm ready to bring hats, can cooler coozies, tote bags and stickers to the Clay County Apple Festival! Just a few days away!

Thank you for all of your support.

woof.
